Stress and How to Deal With It

Stress and How to Deal With It

By Dr. Kelly R. Bennett

“I have tried everything, spent thousands, nothing worked. This is my last option.”

“I can’t concentrate or remember anything, not my friends’ names, not even what I did just a few minutes ago.”

“Energy; where is it? I don’t have any. I feel weak most of the time, and have to rest.”

“I sleep 2 hours a night, if I am lucky. My life is in shambles.”

“I suffered a stroke and cannot function the way I used to. I’m scared.”

“My passions run away with me and my anger gets completely out of control. I frighten and drive away the ones I love most.”

“I panic every day, have flashbacks, go on automatic, cannot stop. Am I going crazy?”

“I don’t have reason to live anymore. I’m depressed, just want to die. I hate myself.”

“Without any warning, my moods swing all over the place. I’m out of control.”

Hand Squishing Fake Brain
I have heard every one of these comments repeatedly over some 50 years of professional practice. Do any of them sound like you? If they do, this article may be of interest.

These people were desperate. Have you ever felt hopeless, unable to manage what is destroying your life? Even though you’ve tried! But you can’t do anything about it. Options are running out. Friends and family try to help. Nothing works. You sought professional advice. Their recommendations helped, but were not enough. Now what?
Lady Exhibiting Stress
Desperate people look for immediate relief, anything to relieve their discomfort, anything to provide a break from the relentless pain that is driving them crazy. A patient’s agonizing symptoms yank at a professional’s attention.

But alleviating the symptom is often where we stop. Once we have relief, we forget about what caused the discomfort in the first place. The symptom momentarily disappears, but the cause remains.
Now, the cause is not that easy to define. Discomfort may be related to either, or both, local and central control centers of the body. A local control center can be the source of discomfort (sprained ankle or arthritis), not initiated by central control. Local discomfort can also derive from central control issues as well (motor dysfunctions from spinal injury; circulatory problems from heart malfunctions, neuropathy from brain imbalances).

Issues that spring from central control centers (spine, heart, brain) are not as easily assessed. The balance of our central control system can be directly disturbed by traumatic events (physical trauma: concussion; emotional trauma: witnessing a horrific event; lack of chemical production, major illness) as well as by early developmental issues.
Man With Back Pain
And what if the problem lies within the master control center of the body, your brain? Then, what do you do? Before we learned about complex brain functioning this past decade, only crude methods were available for improving brain-function. Among them were surgery (lobotomies, invasive brain stimulation with implants); electroconvulsive treatment; powerful drugs and medications; and indirect approaches to the brain through the mind (psychotherapy, biofeedback with operant conditioning).

The brain is very complex, with hundreds of billions of diverse neurons, each with up to 10,000 connections, which means hundreds of trillions of connections! In addition, the brain responds to every new experience by growing more connections. How do you manage that?
Neural Connections
Why not take advantage of the brain’s natural tendency to respond (called plasticity)? Why not listen to the brain, recording its functioning style plus its degree of balance, harmony, and rhythm (called an Assessment)? Why not retrain the brain, taking its existing electrical activity, filtering it, and feeding it back to the brain as a suggestion, through sound?

That is what Brainwave Optimization™ (BWO) is called. It is a brief, noninvasive approach to a complex subject. BWO collaborates with the brain to improve functioning. BWO only takes weeks/months to retrain the brain, where indirect approaches take months/years, if ever.

We are all different. The brain is something like a fingerprint; each brain is unique, containing its own complex design and intelligence. BWO respects and preserves the unique design of every single brain. This means there cannot be any such thing as a typical or normal brain. You are truly unique!

If you have experienced any of the symptoms listed about or are just having problems in your life, give us a call and come on in for a free BWO assessment.
