Medical Marijuana - A Pharmacy Contained Within A Plant
By Robert Higgins
According to a October 9, 2015 article in International Business Times "Prescription Drugs kill well over 100,000 people a year when use properly as prescribed by a doctor." In contrast, according to Dr. Lester Grinspoon, Professor emeritus at Harvard Medical School, there have been 0 deaths attributed to marijuana use. Dr. Paul Hornby, biochemist and leading authority on cannabis research states, "In order to get a toxic amount of delta - 9 tetrahydrocannibinol you would need to smoke around 15,000 joints in 20minutes."
The late Dr. Tod Mikuriya - former National administrator of the U.S. Governments marijuana research program, reports that "After dealing with about 10,000 patients in the past 15 years, I'd say that about 200 different medical conditions respond favorably to cannabis." Some of these conditions include Alzheimer's, epilepsy, MS, glaucoma, depression, anxiety, cancer and HIV/AIDS. The American Medical Association has admitted, "...marijuana has anti-bacterial properties, inhibits tumor growth, and enlarges the airways which they believe can ease the severity of asthma attacks".
